A quick experiment with ClearType

The following images demonstrate sub-pixel aware rendering. This is a technique that only works with certain flat panel screen types such as TFT and similar. It even requires a display where the sub pixels are ordered this order: red, green, blue. On such displays the images on the right will look better and more sharp. On other display types, the left side images will typically look better.

The effect of this is very subtle and mostly reveals itself on text and sharp black & white detail.
