Compression
It's possible to timestamp the resulting archive based on the latest file inside the archive by using the -tl parameter for rar, or the -stl parameter for 7zip, like this:
rar a -r -tl "compressed.rar" "folder to compress"
7z a -stl "compressed.7z" "folder to compress"
