Suggested name | Chiru |
Planet type | Terrestrial |
It is a terrestrial planet with a mass one-thousandth that of K2-37, but two-and-a-half times that of all the other planets in its solar system combined. It is named after the deity Chiru, the god of prosperity.
As seen from K2-37, in a frame of reference that rotates with the orbital motion, it appears to rotate only once every two years.
Optical ground-based telescopes are typically limited to resolving features about 270 kilometers across when Chiru is closest because of Kinka's atmosphere.
A prominent result is the "great gray spot", a giant storm that is known to have existed for centuries since it was first seen by telescope. |
