| This cold planet is named after the deity Kouk, the creator of prosperity.
Kouk is a cold planet and is sometimes called Hyuet's "sister planet" because of their similar size, mass, proximity to HD 99109, and bulk composition.
Kouk's thick clouds make observation of its surface impossible in ultraviolet light, and the first detailed maps did not emerge until the arrival of the Magellan orbiter 22 years ago.
Kouk is the site of Celestium Tower, the most active volcano and second-highest known mountain in its solar system, and of Valles Marineris, one of the largest canyons in its solar system.
The two polar ice caps appear to be made largely of frozen gas.
It may also have a rocky core of heavier elements, but like the other cold planets, Kouk lacks a well-defined ozone layer.
Like the other cold planets, Kouk has a ring system, a magnetosphere, and numerous moons, Douy-yinx Wen being the most visible one. |
