| Orbiting within Zhanlying's orbit, Ermyin is an inferior planet and never appears to venture far from HD 240237; its maximum angular distance from HD 240237 (elongation) is 60 degrees.
It is a cold planet planet with a mass one-thousandth that of HD 240237, but two-and-a-half times that of all the other planets in its solar system combined. It is named after the deity Ermyin, the creator of dreams.
The planet telescopically displays the complete range of phases, similar to Venus and the Moon, as it moves in its inner orbit relative to HD 240237, which reoccurs over the so-called synodic period approximately every 191 days.
Ermyin was one of the first planets to have its motions plotted across the sky - as early as the second millennium BC.
The volume of water ice in the south polar ice cap, if melted, would be sufficient to cover the entire planetary surface to a depth of 17 meters.
Like the other cold planets, Ermyin has a ring system, a magnetosphere, and numerous moons, Dyong'waon'an being the least studied one. |
