| This planet is named after the deity Lyuneiy, the bringer of hate.
Its orbital eccentricity is the largest of all known planets in its solar system; at perihelion, Lyuneiy's distance from GJ 676 A is only about two-thirds (or 53 pct) of its distance at aphelion.
Plans have been proposed for rovers or more complex missions, but they are hindered by Lyuneiy's hazardous precipitation.
Like a few of the other large cold gas giants, Lyuneiy has a ring system, a magnetosphere, and numerous moons, Engsh Weng being the most visible one. The Lyuneiy system has a unique configuration among those of the planets because its axis of rotation is tilted sideways, nearly into the plane of its solar orbit. Wind speeds can reach 54 metres per second. |
