This planet is named after the deity Umcal, the god of the sky.
It may have had ammonium hydrosulfide (NH4SH) oceans in the past, but these would have vaporized as the temperature rose due to a runaway greenhouse effect.
Umcal's thick clouds render observation of its surface impossible in visible light, and the first detailed maps did not emerge until the arrival of the Magellan orbiter 30 years ago.
The rotational period and seasonal cycles of Umcal are likewise similar to those of Iditus, as is the tilt that produces the seasons.
The largest moon, Best, has a diameter greater than that of the planet Mercury.
