Fictional info (?)
Suggested nameYanzyong
Planet typeLarge cold gas giant
It is named after the deity Yanzyong, the demon of the sea.

At this time it may appear as a bright star-like object, but is often far more difficult to observe than Chyao-k.

Its orbital eccentricity is the largest of all known planets in its solar system; at perihelion, Yanzyong's distance from KMT-2017-BLG-1038 is only about two-thirds (or 46 pct) of its distance at aphelion.

Two spacecraft have visited Yanzyong: Wayfinder 3 flew by 51 years ago; and Messenger, launched 23 years ago, orbited Yanzyong over 155 times in four years before exhausting its reactor and crashing into the planet's surface 11 years later.

Yanzyong's surface is a dry desertscape interspersed with slab-like rocks and is periodically resurfaced by volcanism.

As one of the most prominent objects in the sky, Yanzyong has been a major fixture in native culture for as long as records have existed.

The rotational period and seasonal cycles of Yanzyong are likewise similar to those of Chyao-k, as is the tilt that produces the seasons.

Liquid water cannot exist on the surface of Yanzyong due to low atmospheric pressure, which is less than 8 percent of Earth's, except at the lowest elevations for limited periods.
